Our take

What the Explorer 1500 Ultra is good at, and what to watch for

KiloHour take A good fit for construction sites and wet weather thanks to its IP65 case and 800W solar input, but it weighs 38.6 lb and cannot add battery packs.

The Explorer 1500 Ultra holds 1,536Wh of LiFePO4, the same capacity as the Explorer 1500 v2, but it is built for a different job. Its case is rated IP65 against dust and water with all lids closed, and Jackery describes it as drop resistant to one meter, with a removable metal base for cleaning. Jackery pitches it for dusty construction sites and heavy rain.

Output is rated at 1,800W continuous with a 3,600W surge peak, which Jackery says it can hold for 5 seconds. It can also sustain 2,000W for up to 15 minutes, and Jackery points to DIY tools and heavy-duty pumps as typical loads. Ports include three AC outlets, a 100W USB-C, a 30W USB-C, a USB-A and a 12V 10A outlet.

Charging is a strength. The manual lists 800W of solar across two 8020 ports, and Jackery quotes 1.5 hours on the wall, 2.5 hours from solar and about 3 hours from a vehicle alternator charger. In UPS mode the manual says it switches to stored power within 20 ms, though output in bypass mode is capped at 1,440W while grid power is present.

The trade-offs are weight and growth. At 38.6 lb (17.5 kg) it is heavier than the 31.97 lb Explorer 1500 v2, and Jackery's FAQ says it does not support an external battery pack. Cells are rated for 4,000 cycles to 70 percent capacity, and direct purchases carry a 3+2 year warranty.
