Our take

What the Explorer 1500 v2 is good at, and what to watch for

KiloHour take Suits home backup for a fridge, Wi-Fi and laptops in a 31.97 lb case with fast wall charging, but solar input tops out at 400W for a 1.5kWh battery.

The Explorer 1500 v2 packs 1,536Wh of LiFePO4 into 31.97 lb (14.5 kg), which Jackery calls the lightest 1.5kWh LiFePO4 station. Three AC outlets share 2,000W continuous with a 4,000W surge peak, alongside two USB-C ports (the manual labels one 100W and one 30W), a USB-A port and a 12V 10A car port.

Jackery pitches it for everything from phones and laptops to fridges. The UPS switches in within 0.01 seconds, which Jackery says keeps work, lights and Wi-Fi running through an outage, and the page lists a full charge in 64 minutes in its fast charging mode. The manual rates the cells for 6,000 cycles to 70 percent capacity and an operating range of -4°F to 113°F, though below 14°F AC output drops to 1,200W. Direct purchases get a 3+2 year warranty.

The real choice is against the Explorer 1500 Ultra, which shares the same 1,536Wh capacity but trades output for ruggedness: an IP65 case, 800W of solar and a 1,800W rating, at 38.6 lb.

On the 1500 v2, solar tops out at 400W across two 8mm ports. Jackery's lab figure for 0 to 80 percent on 400W of solar is 4 hours, so a full refill from panels takes most of a sunny day. The manual lists no expansion port, so 1,536Wh is the ceiling.
