Our take

What the Explorer 2000 v2 is good at, and what to watch for

KiloHour take Suits home outage backup for a fridge, router or computer in a light 2kWh case, but solar input tops out at 400W and there is no listed expansion battery.

The Explorer 2000 v2 puts 2,042Wh of LiFePO4 into a 39.5 lb (17.9 kg) case, which is notably light for a 2kWh station. Its three AC outlets are rated at 2,200W continuous with a 4,400W surge peak, enough for a refrigerator, a microwave or a coffee maker, though not several large loads at once.

Jackery pitches it for home outages. It lists switchover under 20 ms for routers, computers and NAS boxes, noise under 30 dB, an Emergency Super Charge mode that refills from 0 to 100 percent in about 1.7 hours, and around 95 percent charge retention after 12 months in storage. Cells are rated for 4,000 cycles to 70 percent or more capacity, with a 3+2 year warranty when bought direct. Note that Jackery's cycle rating is to 70 percent capacity, while most rivals quote 80 percent, so the 4,000 figures are not directly comparable.

The trade-offs are solar input and expansion. Solar tops out at 400W across two 8mm ports, so recharging 2kWh from panels alone takes a long, sunny day or more. There is no listed expansion battery, and only three AC outlets, which can mean a power strip for larger setups. The 12V car port is listed only as 10A, not in watts.
