Our take

What the Explorer 2000 Plus is good at, and what to watch for

KiloHour take Pick it if you want a 2kWh station that can grow with battery packs and take 1,400W of solar, but at 61.5 lb it is heavy to move around.

The Explorer 2000 Plus holds 2042.8Wh of LiFePO4 and is the expandable member of Jackery's 2kWh pair. Five AC outlets share 3,000W continuous with a 6,000W surge peak, and two 8mm inputs accept up to 1,400W of solar combined. Jackery says six 200W panels can refill it in about 2 hours.

The Explorer 2000 v2 has nearly the same capacity at 2,042Wh but stops at 2,200W of output and 400W of solar, in a 39.5 lb case. The Plus gives up that portability for headroom: it weighs 61.5 lb (27.9 kg).

Growth is the main reason to choose it. The manual says one unit supports up to five Battery Pack 2000 Plus units, which Jackery puts at up to 12kWh. Linking two units adds 120/240V output and reaches the page's headline figure of 24 kWh, so the largest setups need a second station.

For outages, Jackery lists a 20 ms EPS switchover for appliances such as a refrigerator, and a long standby mode that holds a 50 percent charge for up to 2 years. The spec table gives 2 hours on AC and 7 hours on solar, but 25 hours from a 12V car socket. Ports also include two 100W USB-C, two 18W USB-A and a 12V 10A car port. Cells are rated for 4,000 cycles to 70 percent capacity. Jackery's page now also points shoppers to its newer HomePower 2000 Plus v2.

FAQ

Explorer 2000 Plus questions

Answers use the same published specs and labelled assumptions as the calculator.

How long will the Explorer 2000 Plus last?

2,043 Wh stored, about 1,839 Wh of it usable at the typical estimate. At its full 3,000 W rating it empties in about 30–33 min.

Can you add batteries to the Explorer 2000 Plus?

Yes. Jackery lists expansion to 12,000 Wh, about 5.8 times the built-in 2,043 Wh.

What is the Explorer 2000 Plus solar input?

Up to 1,400 W of panels. A single 200 W panel needs about 2.8 sunny days; panels at the full 1,400 W need about 2 peak-sun hours. Panels are assumed to deliver 75% of their rating.

Can the Explorer 2000 Plus run a CPAP overnight?

Yes: 4 nights of 8 hours from a CPAP drawing 34 W with its heated humidifier and tube on (ResMed's measured figure).

How many watts can the Explorer 2000 Plus power?

3,000 W continuous. Motor starts can briefly pull up to 6,000 W.
