Our take

What the Yeti 700 is good at, and what to watch for

KiloHour take A good fit for keeping one fridge and small electronics running through an outage in a water-resistant case, but its 600W inverter and 200W solar limit are low for its capacity.

The Yeti 700 holds 677Wh of LiFePO4, the most in Goal Zero's compact Yeti line, with a 600W continuous inverter, a 1,000W surge and an IPX4 water-resistance rating. It weighs 20.3 lb (9.2 kg). Goal Zero says it can run a full-size refrigerator for up to eight hours, which makes it a practical outage backup for one fridge and a router. Compared with the Yeti 500, it adds about 178Wh and 100W of output for roughly 4 lb more weight, with the same surge rating.

Charging is where the page is inconsistent. The spec list gives 500W for AC fast charge and 1.7 hours to full, while the product text says 600W input and under two hours; the default low-speed mode is 340W. Solar tops out at 200W through the 8mm input, which Goal Zero says takes about 3.8 to 4 hours. Ports match the smaller Yetis: a 100W USB-C PD port, two 30W USB-C ports, two 18W USB-A ports, a 162W 12V auxiliary port and a 135W 6mm port, with total combined output capped at 850W.

The trade-offs are the 600W inverter, which rules out high-draw appliances such as kettles, and the 200W solar ceiling, which is low for this capacity. The user guide lists grid-to-battery switching in under 20 ms, not instant, and Goal Zero says its app is required for connected features. Cells are rated for 4,000 cycles with a five-year warranty.

FAQ

Yeti 700 questions

Answers use the same published specs and labelled assumptions as the calculator.

How long will the Yeti 700 last?

677 Wh stored, about 610 Wh of it usable at the typical estimate. At its full 600 W rating it empties in about 49–54 min.

What is the Yeti 700 solar input?

Up to 200 W of panels. A single 200 W panel needs about 1 sunny days; panels at the full 200 W need about 4.6 peak-sun hours. Panels are assumed to deliver 75% of their rating.

Can the Yeti 700 run a CPAP overnight?

Yes: one 8-hour night from a CPAP drawing 34 W with its heated humidifier and tube on (ResMed's measured figure).

How many watts can the Yeti 700 power?

600 W continuous. Motor starts can briefly pull up to 1,000 W.

Does the Yeti 700 work as a UPS?

Goal Zero lists a 20 ms switchover when wall power drops.
