Our take
What the RIVER 3 Plus is good at, and what to watch for
KiloHour take Suits a desk, router or network gear that needs a small UPS, but 286Wh buys time to save work and shut down, not to keep working through a long outage.
The RIVER 3 Plus is a small unit, 286Wh and 10.4 lb, aimed at desks, network gear and short trips rather than appliances. EcoFlow rates it at 600W continuous across three AC outlets, with a 1,200W surge and an X-Boost mode that lets resistive loads up to 1,200W run at reduced voltage.
Where it stands out for its size is backup behavior. EcoFlow lists a UPS switchover under 10 ms and markets it as a replacement for a traditional desk UPS, with two rear AC outlets so cables stay tidy. The spec sheet lists 380W AC charging for a full charge in about 60 minutes, 220W of solar input, LiFePO4 cells rated for 3,000 cycles to 80 percent, and noise under 30 dB.
The limits follow from the capacity. EcoFlow's own example says a 600W computer runs for at least 21 minutes, which is enough to save work and shut down, not to keep working through a long outage. Solar input tops out at 220W, so a full solar recharge needs good sun for most of a morning. EcoFlow offers stackable extra batteries that bring capacity to as much as 858Wh. The IP54 rating applies to the battery pack only, not the whole unit, per EcoFlow's footnote.

FAQ
RIVER 3 Plus questions
Answers use the same published specs and labelled assumptions as the calculator.
How long will the RIVER 3 Plus last?
286 Wh stored, about 257 Wh of it usable at the typical estimate. At its full 600 W rating it empties in about 20–23 min.
Is the RIVER 3 Plus enough for a CPAP night?
Not quite: less than one 8-hour night from a CPAP drawing 34 W with its heated humidifier and tube on (ResMed's measured figure).
What is X-Boost on the RIVER 3 Plus?
X-Boost lifts the limit to 1,200 W, for resistive loads (kettles, heaters) only. Motors and electronics stay capped at 600 W. Motor starts can briefly pull up to 1,200 W.
Can you add batteries to the RIVER 3 Plus?
Yes. EcoFlow lists expansion to 858 Wh, about 3 times the built-in 286 Wh.
What is the RIVER 3 Plus solar input?
Up to 220 W of panels. A single 200 W panel needs about 0.4 sunny days; panels at the full 220 W need about 1.8 peak-sun hours. Panels are assumed to deliver 75% of their rating.
