Our take
What the Explorer 240 v2 is good at, and what to watch for
KiloHour take Pick it if you want a small 256Wh station for a laptop, lights or a small fan, but its 300W outlet is limited and solar needs an extra adapter.
The Explorer 240 v2 holds 256Wh of LiFePO4 and weighs 7.94 lb (3.6 kg), making it Jackery's smallest station with an AC outlet. That outlet is rated at 300W continuous with a 600W surge peak, enough for a laptop, a string of lights or a small fan, but not for anything with a heating element.
Ports are modest. The manual lists one USB-C port at 100W that works as both input and output, a second USB-C and a USB-A port at 15W each, and a 12V 10A car port. Charging is quick for the size: Jackery says a standard wall charge takes 2 hours, and a fast mode switched on in the app fills it in 1 hour. The manual rates the cells for 3,000 cycles to 80 percent capacity, and Jackery adds two years to the three-year warranty for direct purchases.
For home use, the manual says it switches to battery within 20 ms when wall power drops. It also warns against connecting equipment with high uninterruptible power needs, such as data servers and workstations.
Solar is the weak spot. Panels connect through the same 100W USB-C input and need a separate 8020 to USB-C adapter, and Jackery does not list a dedicated solar maximum. If you want a proper solar input, more capacity and a 500W outlet, the Explorer 600 v2 is the next size up.
